HELNWEIN'S SET AND COSTUMES FOR THE OPERA "THE CHILD DREAMS"
A new Israeli production for the occasion of Tel Aviv's 100th anniversary. "The Child Dreams", is based on the play of Hanoch Levin, the most important Israeli playwrite. Levin's plays have been performed in Germany, France, and many other places all around the world. The Child Dreams is one of the most important, powerful and inspiring plays ever written in Israel. The music is composed by Gil Shohat and directed by Omri Nitzan, artistic director of the Cameri Theatre.
The coductor is maestro Asher Fisch, the music director of the Israeli Opera. |

"Im Moment arbeite ich an einer neuen Oper, die 2009/10 in der Israeli-Opera in Tel Aviv uraufgeführt werden soll. Sie heisst: "The Child Dreams" nach einem Theaterstück von Hanoch Lewin, dem bedeutendsten israelischen Dramatiker des 20ten Jahrhunderts.
Die Entdeckung dieses Textes war ein Schock und eine Epiphanie für mich, denn noch nie war die künstlerische Arbeit eines anderen so nah an meinen eigenen innersten Bildern. Es ist als hätte er dieses Stück ausschliesslich all den Kindern gewidmet, die bisher in meinem Werk aufgetaucht sind - und all jenen, die noch kommen werden." |
